| Project | Emergency Culvert Replacement |
| Location | Curry County, Oregon |
Following a catastrophic failure of an existing culvert along US 101, Stadeli Boring & Tunneling was mobilized to perform an emergency replacement under critical conditions. The failure caused roadway instability and slope movement toward the Pacific Ocean, requiring immediate action within a limited in-water work window ahead of winter storms.
The project involved installing 370 linear feet of 48-inch steel culvert through clay loam soils with embedded vegetation in an active landslide zone. A specialized bore pit setup was implemented using driven piles, a reinforced concrete slab, and slide rail shoring to stabilize the excavation. A full-face carbide tooth cutting head paired with a 60-inch auger boring machine allowed efficient advancement through varying ground conditions.
Despite unstable soils and time constraints, the installation was completed successfully with precise grade and alignment, restoring critical infrastructure along the Oregon coast.
